iOS 12.1.1 Will Allow iPhone XR Users to Expand Notifications Using Haptic Touch 2019

To keep its price in check, Apple removed 3D Touch from the iPhone XR. Instead, Apple has replaced it with Haptic Touch which is essentially a long press coupled with haptic feedback. However, due to hardware limitations, Haptic Touch on the iPhone XR only works in a few places across iOS 12 and it is simply not as useful as 3D Touch.

One major omission with Haptic Touch on the iPhone XR is the inability to expand and view rich notifications. This means that one cannot expand a notification to view its content using Haptic Touch. Instead, iPhone XR users are required to swipe on a notification and then tap on view to expand the notification — a slow and tedious process.Must Read:Jihosoft iTunes Backup Unlocker

This was a strange omission on Apple’s part especially since on the iPad and iPad Pro, one could long press banner notifications to view their content. Thankfully, Apple will be fixing this behavior with its upcoming iOS 12.1.1 update which is currently being beta tested. Post the release of iOS 12.1.1, iPhone XR owners will be able to long press on any notification banner to view its content. Apple is expected to release iOS 12.1.1 to the public before the end of this month.

Apple has confirmed that it is expanding Haptic Touch support across iOS 12. We should see the company address more such issues with Haptic Touch on the iPhone XR in future updates. If you lost data after you updated to a new iPhone, you can always use Gihosoft iPhone Data Recovery to get the data back from the old iPhone or backup.
